Creativity Cut-Ups

This is a piece from my University module Creativity 2, it's something we did today and I'm pretty proud of it seeing as it's poetry and I'm usually awful at it. This task was inspired by 'Cut Ups' which was in the documentary we watched about David Bowie (random I know). 'Cut Ups' is when you take a page of text and cut it all up and use interesting sentences to make something new. It is said to be a good source of inspiration. Now, for this we were given photocopied sheets of random pages of books, of which I'd never heard of, and told to cut them up and form a sci-fi poem, this genre choice was influenced Ziggy Stardust, Bowie's alter ego.
So here is my finished result!

The sun had been just rising above the mountain peaks
swift and sudden
with his back against the fallen giant's Gothic ribs
The giant was not just uttering cries
but grimaces of pain
This was the end of the line-

Around the elephantine corpse
two titans were standing
free of most parasites, and
never mentioned former hallucinations
crawled the grim reminder of death or injury
He sobbed and shivered,
wailed aloud to the empty night
a roar as from a great distance.
The unpopulated shadows grew thicker
cruel and sardonic

The sun had not risen,
he knew that he was dying.
